❤️ A Heart Surgeon Says These Popular Drinks May Be Putting Your Heart at Risk... See the full list in the comments 👇

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, but many risk factors can be influenced by everyday lifestyle choices—including what you drink.

According to heart surgeons and cardiologists, no single beverage will determine your heart health on its own. However, regularly consuming certain drinks may increase the risk of high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes, all of which can affect cardiovascular health over time.

Here are five drinks heart specialists recommend limiting.

1. Sugar-Sweetened Soft Drinks

Regular sodas are among the largest sources of added sugar in many diets.

Drinking sugary beverages frequently has been linked to:

  • Weight gain
  • Higher blood sugar levels
  • Increased risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Higher risk of heart disease

Replacing soda with water or sparkling water flavored with fresh fruit can help reduce added sugar intake.

2. Energy Drinks

Energy drinks often contain large amounts of caffeine, sugar, and other stimulants.

For some people, especially those with underlying heart conditions, these drinks may temporarily increase:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Feelings of palpitations

Healthy adults should be mindful of total caffeine intake and avoid consuming multiple energy drinks in a short period.

3. Sugary Coffee Drinks

A plain cup of coffee can fit into a heart-healthy diet for many people.

The concern comes from specialty coffee drinks loaded with:

  • Flavored syrups
  • Whipped cream
  • Added sugar
  • High-fat creamers

Some large coffee beverages contain hundreds of calories and more sugar than a dessert.

4. Sweetened Fruit Drinks

Many beverages labeled as "fruit drinks" or "fruit cocktails" contain much more added sugar than actual fruit juice.

Even 100% fruit juice should be consumed in moderation because it contains natural sugars without the fiber found in whole fruit.

Whenever possible, choose whole fruit instead.
