- ΒΌ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ΒΌ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
For the Top
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
Mix the flour, salt, and sugar.
Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the ice water until the dough comes together.
Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Step 2: Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and slice the apples.
